To celebrate the release of his new book, The Maleficent Seven, Derek Landy went down to a crypt under Dublin and answered some questions about Tanith and her part in the Skulduggery Pleasant series. The 3 parts of the interview are below for your viewing pleasure.

House of Secrets by Chris Colombus and Ned Vizzini is released in May by HarperCollins NZ. Chris Colombus is the creator of some of my favourite kids movies, including Goonies, Home Alone and Mrs Doubtfire, so I’m really looking forward to reading his first children’s book. The idea of the story sounds really interesting so I’ve got my fingers crossed that it will be great!
James Dashner talks about the difference between The Maze Runner and his upcoming book, The Eye of Minds. If you’re a James Dashner fan, you need to check out his Dashner Chat on Twitter. Just head to Twitter and search #dashnerchat.
I’m a huge fan of James Dashner’s Maze Runner series so I’m really excited about his new series, The Mortality Doctrine. The first book in the series, The Eye of Minds is released in the US in October. This video is the first of a series of videos that James will be posting about his new series.
You know what it’s like when your mum goes away on a business trip and Dad’s in charge. She leaves a really, really long list of what he’s got to do. And the most important thing is DON’T FORGET TO GET THE MILK. Unfortunately, Dad forgets. So the next morning, before breakfast, he has to go to the corner shop, and this is the story of why it takes him a very, very long time to get back.
Featuring: Professor Steg (a time-travelling dinosaur), some green globby things, the Queen of the Pirates, the famed jewel that is the Eye of Splod, some wumpires, and a perfectly normal but very important carton of milk.
How awesome does Neil Gaiman’s book sound? Neil Gaiman + Chris Riddell = TOTALLY AWESOME! He says at the end of the video to go out and buy 2 copies of the book, but I think I’ll be buying a few more.
Fortunately, The Milk will be published in New Zealand in October by Bloomsbury.
I thought Oliver Jeffers was awesome before I saw this video, but now he’s just reached an all new level of awesomeness! I’ve been a huge fan of Oliver since his first book was published and I’ve loved everything he’s created so far, from his own picture books to illustrations for other authors, such as John Boyne and David Almond. His books are wonderful and it’s great to get this entertaining insight into his creative process.
David Melling is one of my favourite picture book author/illustrators and I absolutely love Hugless Douglas. He’s a cute character who children and adults love. There’s even a very cool Hugless Douglas app, with the story read by the wonderful Alan Davies.
David has a great website (www.davidmelling.co.uk) where you can find out more about him and his work, and you can even buy some very reasonably-priced prints (I’ve got the Hugless Douglas one on my wall). I’d love to have a giant Hugless Douglas costume like the one on his blog. I’ll have to try and convince my library to buy one.
The second book in Darren Shan’s creepy Zom-B series, Zom-B Underground is out now in NZ. The first book was gory, super-creepy and absolutely fantastic. I’m excited, but slightly scared, to find out what happens in this next book. Zom-B Underground is the first of 4 Zom-B books to be released in 2013 so there are plenty more Shan zombies coming our way this year.
Every Day is David Levithan’s amazing new book, out in NZ and Australia this month from Text Publishing. I love David’s books and Every Day sounds really interesting and completely different. I can’t wait to lose myself in the story.
The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell is the debut novel from Chris Colfer (Kurt from Glee). It’s a beautiful book and I’m loving the story. If you like books about books, like Inkheart, or fairy tales it’s the perfect book for you. Available now in NZ.
